The “Over 21 badminton Club” has been meeting at Lydbrook Memorial Hall since 2009. Meetings are at 20:00 to 22:00 every Wednesday. The club has a few racquets and supplies shuttlecocks. Dress is casual rather than particularly ‘sporty’.

Before meeting at the Memorial Hall, the Club played at the Old Community Centre in Coleford and records show that the club started in 1968.The Club was open to all residents of Coleford and surrounding areas who were 21 years old. Other activities such as table tennis, chess and cards took place at the Club.

In 2009 the present Club moved to Lydbrook as the Community Centre was to be demolished and a new Centre built, which is now known as The Main Place”. This new Centre does not have facilities for badminton.

The Club is suitable for people seeking gentle to moderate exercise and is a good way to meet new people, it is not really suitable for players of league standard.

For more information, contact club secretary Sue Brain on 01594 835427 or email her here.

Lydbrook Players

The Lydbrook Players amateur dramatic society formed in 1986.  The group annually puts on a pantomime for Christmas entertainment, and currently also performs a play in the Spring, together with supporting events in and around the Lydbrook area.

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings at the Lydbrook Memorial Hall.  Many of the original members are still involved in all aspects of the group’s shows including performing, writing and directing.  The group supports the Lydbrook Memorial Hall and Recreation Ground charity and regularly helps the Trustees in the running and maintenance of the Hall.

The group is open to all, and new members are always welcome to come along and join in for all aspects of putting on a show, which includes all the work that goes on backstage as well as on stage.

Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings at 7.30pm at the Memorial Hall and new members are always welcomed.

If you are interested in joining either just come along or email us at lydbrookplayers@gmail.com
