2022 AGM

Well, the AGM has come and gone and like last year it was very poorly supported by the local community. We were able to elect a committee to keep the charity operational and we hope things will improve as life gets back to normal post Covid-19.

If you have ideas to help us, events you would like to run or see runs by the committee then get in contact with us. You are welcome to come to the monthly meeting with your ideas.

Next trustee meeting will be held on Tuesday July 5th from 7pm at the Lydbrook Memorial Hall. Minutes from the last committee meeting will be published on our website shortly.

Fund raising

We are registered with an organisation that creates funds for charities using very easy steps. EasyFundRaising.org is a site that allows online shoppers to nominate a charity. The site from which purchases are made then makes a small donation each time the link is used, at no cost to the shopper. You need to visit the site, register using our link as the charity, and then install the ‘reminder’ button on your usual Search Engine page (Google, Yahoo, etc). The link you need is here: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/lmhg/

Once installed, you use the button to enter whatever shopping site you want to shop with and we’ll receive the donations from the shops you use. Thank you.

Working on the Wall

Wall long
The length of the wall ready for pointing.

Recently, work’s been done by volunteers to clear the ivy and some of the buddleia from the strip of land behind the wall of the Recreation Ground as it runs beside the main road though the village. The roots of these plants had grown between the stones and they’re threatening to destabilise the wall. We now hope people with the necessary skills will volunteer to re-point the wall where needed. Without this work, the wall, started by willing volunteers in July 1934 and completed about a year later, is in danger of eventual collapse in places. We’d like to stop that happening, and with your help we can. We’ll pay for the materials, but we don’t have funds for the wages generally deserved for such skilled work, so, we need willing volunteers like the folk who originally built the wall. Anyone willing to do this, or any other work, please contact us by email to lydbrookmh(at)yahoo(dot)com, or by using the form in the ‘Contact’ tab above, or by speaking to any of the Trust Committee. Your help will be much appreciated. Thank you.
